The Story of a Thousand
I have the goal to own 1000 books that I enjoy by the age of 35. I have less than six years to accomplish this.
A basic synopsis of how I ended up with this goal: I got too deep into BookTok. At first it was just fun to add more books to my endless TBR list. It was also funny to admit that I was purchasing books without actually reading them (I think that reading is one hobby, buying is another one). Then someone on BookTok made the claim that by definition, a 1000 books is considered a library. I wish I could credit this TikToker but I have long since lost track of that video. Naturally, for a serial book buyer and, at the time, former reading aficionado, I became obsessed with the idea of owning 1000 books. Then, because I am also deep into Marie Kondo’s “Spark Joy” philosophy, I decided that I want to own 1000 books that I enjoy. I have tried to verify if 1000 books really will give me the title of a library owner but no google search has confirmed that so far. Honestly, I’m happy with that because the idea of owning 1000 books that I enjoy sounds extremely appealing. Most of my google searches mainly make the claim that there is no specific amount of books that separate a collection versus a library so I am running with the idea and just having fun with the goal to own 1000 books that I enjoy by the age of 35.
